Current Events & News

  • Fauquier County Staff is conducting a survey of local farmers to get a better understanding of agricultural trends and needs in Fauquier. If you own or lease farmland in Fauquier County, please take a moment to complete this survey.

  • The Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program is in full swing for 2013. This Program was made possible through a grant from the Virginia Beginning Farmer and Rancher Coalition Project through Virginia Tech. If you have questions about the Program or are interested in participating, please contact Jim Hilleary at coordinator@fauquiereducationfarm.info

  • A new workbook to help farmers plan the transition of their farm or forest property from one generation to another is now available from Virginia Cooperative Extension. “Planning the Future of Your Farm: A Workbook Supporting Farm Transfer Decisions” contains useful information on developing a vision for the future, evaluating your farm resources, farm transfer tools and meeting with professional advisors. Click on this link to learn more. Copies are now available at the Agricultural Development Department office.
