Research & Reference
- Ask a Librarian - Get your questions answered by e-mail or call the Adult Reference Desk at (540) 422-8500 ext. 6862.
- SeniorNavigator - Ask reference staff for information on Virginia's online resources for health and aging
- Reference Books and Other Materials - Some reference materials are available online, including Encyclopaedia Britannica and World Book. Other materials are to be used in the library (the call number will start with REF) and are shelved in the reference area of the library. Ask the librarian for assistance.
- Online Databases -
The library offers patrons access to a number of online reference databases which include full-text newspaper, magazine and journal articles. Some databases, including Lexis/Nexis, Morningstar and Ancestry Library Edition, are only accessible within your local library.

Books & Reading
- Readers' Advisory - The library offers a number of "good reads" book lists which you can pick up at any branch. The library also subscribes Books & Authors which provides reading recommendations by genre. Please ask a reference librarian for more details. You may also want to check out the websites that library staff use to find out series information and recommended books.
- Book Buddies - The library's Book Buddies program is designed to provide library services via volunteers to those who are physically, visually or hearing impaired and unable to come to the library. If you or someone you know needs a Book Buddy, please contact Public Services Manager Dawn Sowers at (540) 422-8517.

Book ‘N
Stitchers - Stitchers are invited to bring their knitting and crochet projects, share tips, tricks and ideas and to discuss books. All ages are invited and novice stitchers are welcome.
- John Marshall Library: 6-8 p.m., 1st and 3rd Tuesdays each month
- John Marshall Library: 12 - 2 p.m., 2nd and 4th Tuesdays each month
Chess Club - For adults who are interested in learning to play or looking to improve their skills; bring a chess board if you have one; light snacks and beverages provided courtesy of the Friends of the Fauquier Library.

as a Second Language Classes - English as a Second Language
(ESL) classes for adults are presented at the library by Literacy

Friends of Film - The Friends of Film group is geared at people who are interested in viewing and discussing films of all kinds, from silent movies of old to the latest thrillers. Cartoons and documentaries will also be part of the mix. The group meets on Mondays at 1 p.m. in the Warrenton Library's Children's Program Room on the following dates. SCRABBLE Association (N.S.A.) sanctions more than 175 Scrabble
tournaments and more than 200 clubs in the U.S. and Canada every
year.

Socrates
Café - When was the last time you could discuss your thoughts openly and honestly with others? Have you ever questioned society and its assumptions, or your own? Would you like to have a good, safe discussion without fear of being attacked for having an opinion that is different? Join the discussion at Socrates Café.

p.m. the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Planned discussion
topics for 2013 include:
- May 14: What does it mean to "teach"?
- May 28: What in our culture must be preserved?
- June 11: Is the world getting worse?
- June 25: Should voting rights be determined locally or nationally?
- July 9: What are the legitimate functions of government? (Note: This meeting will be held at the John Barton Payne building, 2 Courthouse Square, Old Town Warrenton)
