Voter Registration

Voter Registration

The last day to apply for voter registration is 21 days before each regularly scheduled primary or general election. A completed voter registration application is considered to have met the deadline by either 1) being postmarked on or before the voter registration deadline date or 2) by delivering it in-person to the Registrar’s Office (or another designated voter registration agency) on or before the voter registration deadline date.

Voter registration applications that fail to meet the statutory voter registration deadline date are required to be held by the Registrar’s Office and cannot be processed until after the voter registration rolls legally reopen again in Virginia which is always the day after the election date

If you are already registered to vote at your current residence address, you do not need to re-apply for voter registration. However, if you have moved recently, you must update your voter registration record with the Registrar’s Office before the voter registration deadline.

For any change to your voter registration record please download and complete the voter registration application, or contact the Registrar’s Office by phone or e-mail and a voter registration application will be sent to you.

Please call the Registrar’s Office if you are unsure if you are registered to vote or check you voter registration status online.
