Topic:

A Resolution to Adopt the 2010-2011 Through 2015-2016 Secondary Road Six-Year Plan (SSYP) and the 2010-2011 Fiscal Year Budget

Topic Description:

Pursuant to Section 33.1-70.01 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, a joint public hearing will be held with the Board of Supervisors and a representative of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to receive public comment on the proposed Secondary System Construction Program for Fiscal Years 2010-2011 through Fiscal Years 2015-2016.  Copies of the proposed program and budget may be reviewed at the Warrenton Residency Office of the Virginia Department of Transportation, located at 457 East Shirley Avenue, Warrenton, Virginia.  A summary from VDOT is included as Attachment 2.  The list of projects is included as Attachment 3, with a map of the projects as Attachment 4.

No new items have been added to the plan suggested by VDOT.  The two projects on Dumfries Road (#11216 and #11217) and the project on Silver Hill Road (#87929) are nearing completion.  The Heddings Road project (#52240) will begin construction later this year.  VDOT is recommending the removal of the Route 600 Study (priority #9 in last year’s plan) to free up money to support other projects.

 

Transportation Committee Recommendation:

On March 31, 2010, the Transportation Committee considered the Secondary Road Six-Year Plan.  Staff will update the Board on the Transportation Committee’s recommendation.

 

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Conduct a joint public hearing with the Virginia Department of Transportation and consider adoption of the attached resolution.
