Topic:

A Resolution Directing Application to the Virginia Department of Transportation Revenue Sharing Program for FY 2011

Topic Description:

The Virginia Department of Transportation notified the County Administrator that it has an estimated $15 million for its Revenue Sharing Program, and is seeking applications.  These funds will be distributed statewide, with significant competition expected for the limited grant program.  The County received revenue share grant funds for the recently completed intersection/signalization projects located at Route 605/Route 676 and Route 605/Route 602.

The Brookside Parkway represents the priority project in the New Baltimore area, since it will have approved construction plans from Brookside to the general area where a roundabout is planned near Kennedy Road (Route 652) and funding commitments from the Brookside Communities, LLC and the Vint Hill Economic Development Authority. Not only does this improvement benefit Vint Hill, but it provides needed community travel choices to Route 605, Route 602, Route 215 and other destination points.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Direct the Department of Community Development to prepare the required Resolution and the Detailed Designation of Funds Form for Board action at its May 13, 2010 meeting.
