Topic: 

A Resolution Pertaining to Construction in the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Right-of-Way for the Installation of Preemptive Traffic Signal Devices

Topic Description:

It is the recommendation of the Public Safety Committee that preemptive traffic signals be installed at the intersections of Business Route 29 and Alwington Road and United States Route 29 and Business Route 29.  VDOT imposes a bonding requirement upon construction within the right-of-way.  In lieu of a cash bond or other form of surety, the County may adopt a resolution pledging its financial responsibility in the event that the work within the right of way is not completed in accordance with VDOT requirements.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

It is estimated that the overall cost of such a project will be approximately $15,000.
