An Ordinance Amending
Section 13-51 of the Code of Fauquier County to Provide
Certain Additional Exceptions to the Requirement to Pay a
Local License Registration Fee
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
On July 12, 2007, the Board
of Supervisors adopted a resolution directing the County
Administrator to schedule a public hearing on a proposed
amendment to Section 13-51 of the Code of Fauquier County to
add additional exceptions to the requirement to pay a local
license registration fee. These additional exceptions would
exempt the following persons who live and work in the county
from having to pay a local license registration fee on one
personal vehicle owned or leased by them: Deputy Sheriffs;
Virginia State Police Officers; Municipal Police Officers;
and paid Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians.
These additional exceptions were authorized by the General
Assembly as of July 1, 2007, by amendment to Section
46.2-752 of the Code of Virginia. The proposed effective
date for this amendment is January 1, 2008. This amendment
will also remove some redundancies that exist in the current
section of the County Code.
