A Resolution Authorizing the
County Administrator to Request the Re-Allocation of
Transportation Enhancement Act Grant Funds from Mosby Heritage
Signage Project to the Marshall Main Street Project
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
In Fiscal Year 2000, the
Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded the Mosby Heritage
Signage Project $32,000 in Transportation Enhancement Act (TEA)
grant funds. The grant funds were to be used to develop a logo
and design and install signs designating the boundary lines of
the Mosby Heritage Area. This project was completed in 2003,
with a grant balance of $8,550 remaining.
The Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) has requested that the County close the
project, so the unexpended grant funds can be allocated to
another TEA project. Per discussions with VDOT staff, upon
closing the Mosby Heritage Signage project, the County can
request the unexpended grant funds be transferred from that
project to the Marshall Main Street Project, another approved
TEA project in the County. |

Requested Action of the Board
of Supervisors:
|
|
Consider adoption of the
attached resolution. |
|
Financial Impacts Analysis: |
|
When the Marshall Business and
Residents Association (MBRA) requested the County sponsor its
TEA grant application for the Marshall Main Street project in
November 2007, it was stated the MBRA would provide funding for
the required local match.
If the remainder of the grant
($8,550) is utilized for the Marshall Main Street TEA project, a
20% local match ($1,710) will be required. |
