The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office is joining with other state and local law enforcement agencies and highway safety advocates across the Commonwealth to help save more lives by strongly enforcing all traffic laws, especially seat belt laws in Fauquier County.
The 2012 National Click it or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization kicks off May 21 to help save lives by cracking down on those who don’t buckle up.
Sheriff Charlie Ray Fox, Jr wants to stress that regularly buckling up works, “seat belt use is just too important to ignore.”
The sheriff’s office will be conducting check-points and increased traffic enforcement throughout Fauquier County in the next two weeks.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics in 2010, seat belts saved an estimated 272 lives in Virginia alone while the statewide seat belt use has increased slightly to 81.8% from 80.5% in 2010.
