Press Release Sheriff's Badge

The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office has recently responded to numerous larceny reports involving the theft of lawn care equipment, chain saws and other hand tools from sheds and garages on private residential property. The structures were either unlocked or pried open to gain entry.

At least one victim reported a tree/landscape company entered the driveway and a male subject entered the home uninvited. This subject eventually left when the victim activated a medic alert device.

Most of these incidents have occurred in the Dumfries Road (Rt 605) corridor to include the Millwood subdivision and Grays Mill Road area.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to encourage citizens and neighbors to be aware of individuals or companies approaching private property unsolicited seeking work. Also be aware of vehicles cruising your street or neighborhood that appear to be soliciting work. Watch your neighbor’s property and report any suspicious vehicles or persons.

Anything suspicious should be reported to law enforcement immediately by calling 911 or non-emergency 540-347-3300.

Authority: Sheriff Charlie Ray Fox, Jr.

Lt. James Hartman
