NATIONAL CREDIT CARD FRAUD SCHEME
In recent weeks our county has fallen victim to a NATIONAL Credit card fraud scheme. Some of you may have or will receive an automated call or text message. The message may or may not name a specific banking institution and it will indicate some type of trouble with your credit card.
If you receive one of these calls, please hang up and do not give out any of your personal information. Remember, there is no reason that the bank would call you, as they already have your information on file.
If you have any questions about your financial accounts, contact your financial institution. If you would like more information on fraud schemes please visit the Federal Trade Commission web site at FTC.gov
If you suffered a financial loss due to one of these scams, please contact the sheriff’s office at 540-347-3300.
