Trip to Harper's Ferry and Antietam Battlefield

Spend the day going back in time with a visit to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia and Antietam Battlefield, Maryland. In the morning, explore all the history Harper's Ferry has to offer from the Appalachian Trail Head Quarters. Experience historic trade workshops and stores with reenactors, hike along the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, autumn views from Jefferson Rock, the old train depot, museums, and shops. Relive the famous John Brown Raid as volunteers of the USMC Historical Company recreate the scene and the all-important reactions on it's anniversary. Learn the importance that Harper's Ferry had in the Civil War with its weapons factories and armory that supplied the Union Army. Enjoy lunch, on your own, at one of the quaint restaurants before getting back on the bus to head to Antietam Battlefield. In the afternoon learn about the 'Bloodiest Day in American History' at Antietam Battlefield. Take in the introductory video, explore the museum, join a ranger for a battlefield talk, or take a self-guided hike around the battlefield.
