Fauquier County Archaeology Workshop Presentation
         7:00 PM - On October 11, Fauquier County & Virginia Outdoors Foundation will celebrate Virginia Archaeology Month by hosting an evening presentation. Dr. Michael Barber, State Archaeologist, will present Introduction to Archaeology: We are All Stewards of the Past. Find out what it’s really all about — Who does archaeology and why? What can we learn from studying the past? What really happens in the field, in the lab, and in front of the computer? This illustrated discussion will touch on several topics, focusing on archaeological study methods that lead to data recovery and analysis. 7:00 p.m., Afro American Historical Association, 4243 Loudoun Avenue, The Plains, VA. Fauquier County Hands-on Archaeology Public Open House
         10:00 AM - On Saturday, October 12, Fauquier County and the Virginia Outdoors Foundation will host a public hands-on archaeology open house, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the Creel-Robinson House, a late 18th century stone house on Bull Run Mountain, located off of Hungry Run Road. Professional archaeologists from Thunderbird Archaeology, a division of Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., will be on-hand to answer questions. Admission free of charge. Planning Commission Site Visits
         9:00 AM - The Planning Commission will be conducting two site visits on Tuesday, October 22nd and will meet in the County parking lot at the corner of Lee Street and Marshall Street at 9:00 a.m. The Planning Commission will visit the two sites described below. (1) Special Exception (SPEX14-CR-006) Reduction in open space on Beach Road, Cedar Run District (Don Del Rosso, staff)and; (2) Special Exception & Special Exception Amendment (SPEX14-LE-007 & SEAM14-LE-001) Waverly Station at Bealeton to replace 72 future apartments with 55 townhome style condominium units, Lee District (Adam Shellenberger, staff).
