New Baltimore Service District Citizen Planning Committee

Citizen Planning Committee

The Board of Supervisors directed the Citizen Planning Committee to provide recommended refinements and additions to the New Baltimore Service District (NBSD) Plan that better reflect the needs of a changing land use and transportation environment. The principal effort will be placed on transportation, with recommendations focused on: (1) secondary and primary road network improvements that provide improved access and traffic distribution; (2) complete street cross-sections that include building setback expectations, sidewalks, bikeways, and multi-purpose trails which carefully link residential neighborhoods more effectively with parks, schools and business areas within the community; (3) introduction of context sensitive street design standards compatible with the small town/neighborhood expectations for the service district; and (4) short-term road improvement priorities.

Much has changed since the last amendment to the Service District Plan occurred on October 8, 2009 with the: (1) traffic calming studies on U.S. 15-29 from the Prince William County line to Route 605; (2) traffic volumes and patterns; (3) planned and funded public street improvements in the Vint Hill environs; (4) enacted Virginia Department of Transportation regulations regarding street acceptance and connectivity; (5) Buckland Races Battlefield; (6) expansion of the Fauquier County Water & Sanitation Authority’s Vint Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant; and (7) state implementation of alternative individual septic systems;

The work of the New Baltimore Citizen Planning Committee has been suspended. A community-wide planning effort is currently underway to address the concerns of the broader New Baltimore Community.
