Pretrial Services
The Fauquier County Office of Adult Court Services also administers the pretrial services program. This is a program designed to assist judges and magistrates in making better-informed bail decisions by providing them with a pretrial investigation and report on every defendant prior to arraignment. Pretrial services also provides supervision, drug-screening and treatment monitoring of those defendants released to the custody of the program pending trial.
In FY 2008, 378 criminal defendants were interviewed. 492 defendants were placed under pretrial supervision. 81% of defendants made it to trial successfully without new charges or technical violations.
