RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES TO PROVIDE A LOCAL LOCATION FOR CERTAIN MOTOR VEHICLE SERVICES WHEREAS, in late October 2002, the Warrenton office of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles was closed; and
WHEREAS, the closing of the local Virginia Department of Motor
Vehicles office has placed an undue burden on the citizens of WHEREAS, elected officials of Fauquier County and the Town of Warrenton have conferred with Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles officials to explore a variety of options to restore services locally and to receive sufficient state support for the provision of these services; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is developing a local government service model to restore limited services that builds on the experience of the Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer in working with State agencies, including the registration and titling of motor vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors and the Warrenton
Town Council support the provision of motor vehicle services in a manner
that is convenient for RESOLVED, That the County Administrator is directed and authorized to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Town of Warrenton to share with the Town any costs associated with the DMV service that are in excess of the fees and reimbursements provided by the State; and be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 6th day of January 2003, That the County Administrator be, and is hereby, authorized to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the Department of Motor Vehicles to provide certain motor vehicle services to Fauquier County citizens; and be it
