A Resolution to Approve Travel Expenses in Accordance with Travel Policy and Procedures

Topic Description:

Fauquier County’s adopted policy AP-06 (“Travel Policy and Procedures”) requires Board of Supervisors approval for travel where expenses are anticipated to exceed $1,500.  This item requests the Board’s approval for the Budget Director to attend the Government Finance Officers’ Association’s (GFOA) annual conference and the semiannual meeting of the GFOA Committee on Budgeting and Fiscal Policy, which will be held in Seattle, Washington, from June 26 through July 1, 2009. 

As a part of the employment offer for the Budget Director position, it was indicated that the County would support continued participation on this important committee.  Funds were included in the FY 2009 budget for this purpose.  Funds budgeted in the Finance Department for attendance at this conference will not be utilized given the difficult financial environment and the transition in the Finance Director’s position.  The total cost is estimated at $2,000. 


Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:


Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

The necessary funding was included in the FY 2009 budget.
