A PROCLAMATION HONORING DON SCHENCK FOR OVER TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO FAUQUIER COUNTY AND ITS CITIZENS
WHEREAS, Don Schenck was first employed by the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department in May of 1981; and
WHEREAS, over the course of his employment, Mr. Schenck has contributed numerous items to his department including books, visual materials, resources on horticulture and plant propagation, appliances, videos and a camera; and
WHEREAS, from 2007 to 2008, Mr. Schenck played a major role in the Fauquier County Connections Plan trail system design, which was approved and implemented by the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, in October 2000, Mr. Schenck was invited by the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District to participate in its annual Conservation Dinner and accept the Urban Forestry Award on behalf of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, in November 1998, Mr. Schenck’s project team received the Team Recognition Award from Human Resources to commemorate recreational opportunities that improved the quality of life and community spirit in Fauquier County; and
WHEREAS, in February 1992, Mr. Schenck received a commendation letter for the great amount of extra time and effort he had devoted to the revised budget process; and
WHEREAS, in 1989, Mr. Schenck was recognized twice as Employee of the Week and contributed to the Parks/Heflin Field Dugouts project; and
WHEREAS in July 1984, Mr. Schenck was selected as a district director of the Northern District of the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society; now, therefore, be it
PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 8th day of January 2009, That Don Schenck be, and is hereby, recognized and honored for his service to Fauquier County and its citizens.
