RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION TO DELEGATE TO THE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE THE AUTHORITY TO REQUEST THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION INSTALL WARNING SIGNS WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors has established the Transportation Advisory Committee to make recommendations on transportation safety issues and road improvement priorities; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee receives numerous requests for the installation of signs to alert motorists of activities or hazards in a particular area, including “Watch for Children,” animal crossings, and agricultural warning signs; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) requires that the local governing body forward a resolution requesting each warning sign desired for installation; and WHEREAS, a Board of Supervisors’ member is a voting member of the Transportation Committee; and WHEREAS, on February 2, 2006, the Board of Supervisors designated the County’s Transportation Committee to request the installation and maintenance by VDOT of warning signs until January 1, 2009; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes VDOT reserves the right to review and approve all signing requests to determine the exact location and number of signs; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 8th day of January 2009, That the Board of Supervisors does hereby designate the County’s Transportation Committee to request the installation and maintenance by VDOT of warning signs; and, be it RESOLVED FINALLY, That this delegation of authority shall expire on January 1, 2013.
