A Resolution Authorizing and Directing the Director of the Fauquier County Department of Community Development to Work with the Town of Warrenton’s Director of Planning and Community Development on an Integrated Transportation Plan and Other Matters of Joint Planning and Development

Topic Description:

The Board of Supervisors of Fauquier County has authority over the comprehensive planning and community development of all areas of Fauquier County lying outside of the corporate boundaries of the towns located within the County.  The Town Council for the Town of Warrenton has authority over the comprehensive planning and community development of all areas lying within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Warrenton.  The Board of Supervisors believes that there exists a need for additional coordination and joint planning of the development of land within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Warrenton and in the areas of Fauquier County immediately surrounding Town of Warrenton.  The need for joint planning is especially crucial in the area of transportation. The work on such an integrated transportation plan and other matters of joint planning and development will require staff resources in excess of three hours.  The resolution, if adopted, will authorize County staff to work with the staff of the Town of Warrenton to develop an integrated transportation plan and other matters of joint planning and development.          

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

There is no financial impact as a result of this resolution.
