Topic: 

Update on a Proposed Waste to Energy Program at the Fauquier County Landfill

Topic Description:

George Fitch, Mayor for the Town of Warrenton and County staff will update the Board of Supervisors on recent activity related to the proposal waste to energy.  The Town of Warrenton has proposed the County consider a waste to energy program at the County’s landfill.  Under the proposal, municipal solid waste would be incinerated to create electricity which would then be sold.  In the future the waste would be refined into bio-fuels.  Mayor Fitch wishes to update the Board on the proposal and recent activities related to this proposal.  County staff will also update the Board on their activities related to this proposal.

There is no financial impact as a result of this work session.
