A
Resolution to Authorize an Agreement with Fauquier County
Water and Sanitation Authority (WSA) to Operate School
Wastewater Treatment Systems
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Department of General Services
maintains the water and wastewater systems at school sites
that are not served by a public utility. The operations and
procedures require certified staff and the ability to meet
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) guidelines. The
General Services employee who was certified to operate the
wastewater treatment systems at Mary Walter Elementary
School and H. M. Pearson Elementary School has transitioned
to other employment. In seeking to provide this service it
was determined to be more effective to contract with WSA for
this service rather than rely on a single certified employee
of the Department of General Services.
WSA has agreed to provide this
service and the operations
agreement is attached.

Requested Action of the
Board of Supervisors:
|
|
Consider adoption of the
attached resolution.
|
|
Financial Impacts Analysis: |
|
The maximum operating cost
for this service is $46,000 per year. Maintenance is
authorized up to $500 per repair. WSA will prepare a
maintenance and improvement plan for the County’s
consideration. Funds are available within the General
Services budget.
