A Resolution to Approve an
Amendment to the Procurement Policy to Conform to State
Spending Thresholds
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
Attached for the Board of
Supervisors' consideration is a revised Procurement Policy.
The only changes in this revision are adjustments in the
amount at which competition is required at various
expenditure levels. These changes will make Fauquier
County's policy comparable to the policies of surrounding
jurisdictions, as well as the Commonwealth of Virginia. A
comparison of these procurement levels has also been
included. The advantages of these changes are the potential
for increased local spending due to higher competitive
starting threshold; faster turn-around for low-dollar
purchases not requiring competition; and more flexibility
for the School and County Departments. Even with the changes
in procurement thresholds, expenditures will continue to be
monitored by the Finance Department for compliance.
The proposed revisions were
reviewed by the Finance Committee and recommended for
approval. A complete copy of
the revised Procurement Policy is available in the Board of
Supervisors’ reading file. |
