RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’
LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR THE 2010 GENERAL ASSEMBLY 

WHEREAS, Fauquier County has a variety of issues and interests which require legislative action by the Virginia General Assembly; and 

WHEREAS, on October 8, 2009, the Board of Supervisors adopted its Legislative Priorities for the 2010 General Assembly Session; and

WHEREAS, Governor Kaine’s proposed budget contemplates freezing the County’s composite index adjustment through Fiscal Year 2011; and

WHEREAS, this proposal would prevent the enactment of the County’s new composite index as determined by the Department of Education until Fiscal Year 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Schools anticipate that this proposal could cost the County up to $3,000,000 in reduced funding; and

WHEREAS, the Board wishes to signify its strong opposition to this proposal; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 14th day of January 2010, That does hereby amend its 2010 Legislative Priorities to express its opposition to a delay in the adjustment of the composite index.
