A Resolution to Request the
Virginia General Assembly to Include Funding in the State
Budget to Support the Historic Preservation of Monroe Park |
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Parks and Recreation
Board is requesting that the Board of Supervisors amend its
2004 Legislative Proposals for the General Assembly to
budget $250,000 as a good faith match for the County's
financial commitment toward the development of Monroe Park.
In light of the recognition
of the General Assembly designation of Monroe Park as the
official Gold Mining Interpretive Site for the Commonwealth,
and the subsequent allocation of $1.9 million towards the
development of the Monroe Park Gold Mining Camp, the
Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Board, at its January
2004 meeting, unanimously voted to request the Fauquier
County Board of Supervisors to request the General Assembly
to include $250,000 in the State’s budget as a partial match
to support the County’s effort to enhance this important
aspect of Virginia’s history. |
