A Resolution to Designate a Section of Route 628 (Cannonball Gate Road) a Rural Rustic Road

Topic Description:

During the annual review of the Six-Year Plan for improvements to its secondary system of State highways, it was determined that the section of Route 628 (Cannonball Gate Road) from Route 690 (Bear Wallow Road) to Route 691 (Wilson Road) would qualify for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Rural Rustic Road program.  This is an improvement program designed to have minimal impact on the rural character of existing roads.  The Board of Supervisors must designate a road as “Rural Rustic” to be eligible for this program.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Transportation Committee Recommendation:

On October 26, 2005, the County’s Transportation Committee recommended that this section of Route 628 be designated as a Rural Rustic Road.

Financial Impact Analysis:

VDOT will fund the road improvements.
