Topic:A Resolution to Reclassify the Position of Administrative Assistant to Legal Secretary
County Administration currently has an Administrative Assistant whose primary function was reception duties, filing, and maintaining records. The duties performed by the incumbent have changed substantially. The incumbent now performs duties consistent to the Legal Secretary classification. The essential functions performed are to include: preparing warrant in detinues, court dockets, warrant in debts, affidavits and exhibit notebooks for personal property trials and real estate exhibits for commissioner hearings; opening/closing attorney files; maintaining, tracking and updating a database of delinquent accounts for personal property taxes, real estate taxes, and library and landfill fees; drafting letters of correspondence to delinquent taxpayers; and researching contact information of delinquent taxpayers by utilizing multiple resources.
The position has a significant impact in the collection of delinquent taxpayer dollars and the organization and maintenance of the County Attorney’s legal files.

The fiscal impact of this action will be $3,382.50.
Assistant position was a grade 16:
$21,032.49-$33,627.03 whereas the Legal Secretary is a grade 21:
$26,824.10 - $42,926.88.
