A Work Session to Discuss Needed Improvements to Bethel Academy Roads for Acceptance into the State Secondary Roads System

Topic Description:

The roads in Bethel Academy Subdivision are owned by Alexander Yurgaitis, Jr.  Mr. Yurgaitis has indicated that he no longer desires to maintain the roads.  Since Bethel Academy has no homeowners association to which the roads can be transferred, on August 10, 2006, the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution authorizing the County Administrator and the County Attorney to work with the homeowners of Bethel Academy Subdivision to help facilitate a transfer of the roads to the Virginia Department of Transportationís Secondary Road System.  The Virginia Department of Transportation has performed an assessment to determine the current conditions and needed improvements for Bethel Academy roads in order for those roads to be accepted into the State Secondary Roads System.  The purpose of the work session is to review the Virginia Department of Transportationís assessment and discuss potential funding mechanisms for the costs of road improvements.
