A Resolution For Health Care Budgeting Procedures

Topic Description:

In 1995 the County and School Division agreed on combining their health care programs into a combined self insured program. This initiative immediately resulted in the saving of hundreds of thousands of dollars for both organizations. As part of the negotiations for consolidation, both organizations agreed that for budget purposes each County and School full time employee would be budgeted at the same amount. Permanent part time employees would be pro-rated based on hours worked. While this procedure has been in effect since 1995, no formal resolution was adopted approving this method of budgeting. Indirectly it has been approved as part of the budget adoption. During a joint work session on January 11th the School Board and Board of Supervisors confirmed support of the equal budgeting methodology and agreed to adopt resolutions in its support.

 

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
