A Resolution to Authorize
Improvements to the Public Safety Radio System |
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Public Safety Committee
renewed the report of CTA Communications to improve radio
coverage in the New Baltimore area. The consultant reviewed
a number of alternatives to determine the most effective
means of improving coverage without compromising operations
of Public Safety personnel. The committee concurred with the
recommendation of the consultant that the preferred option
is to add a new transmission site and related equipment and
to utilize the existing antenna at Vint Hill if possible.

|
Requested Action of the
Board of Supervisors:
|
|
Consider adoption of the
attached resolution. |
|
Financial Impacts Analysis: |
|
The estimated cost of the
new site is $1,500,000. This will be considered as part of
Fiscal Year 2008 budget process. Due to the planned opening
of two new schools in this area and the planned changes by
the vendor of equipment in the future, this project is a
priority. |
