A Work Session to Discuss the Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Overview and Funding Request

Topic Description:

At the request of the Finance Committee and Facilities Planning and Implementation Committee, the Board of Supervisors will receive information on the requirements for providing facility and program access under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, specifically Title II requirements for State and Local Governments (28 C. F. R. 35).  Information will include a review of partial project list, current negotiations with the Virginia Office of Protection and Advocacy, proposed initial funding request and a brief review of two future Capital Improvement Projects.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Determine strategy for addressing implementation of ADA Title II requirements for Program Accessibility.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Initial funding request: $230,000

Total request of identified projects to date $400,000 (ESTIMATE)

Future CIP Costs:  Unknown
