Topic: 

A Resolution Directing the County Administrator to Schedule a Public Hearing to Consider Amendment to Chapter 13, Article IV, Section 13-51 of the Fauquier County Code Pertaining to Exceptions to the Vehicle Registration Fee Permitting the Current Exception to Include Officers of the State Police to Include Residents Who are Assigned Outside the County

Topic Description:

The current Ordinance, as adopted on December 14, 2006, provides for several exceptions to the registration fee.  Among them is an exception for law enforcement provided the applicant lives and works in Fauquier County.  This amendment expands that exception for officers of the state police to include officers that live in the county and are stationed outside the County.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis: 

It is unknown how many officers fall in this category, however, it is most likely less than 25 persons; therefore, the impact is estimated to be less than $1,000.00.
