amendment was initiated by the Board of Supervisors on
November 13, 2008. Since the amendment was Board of
Supervisors’ initiated, §13-205 of the Zoning Ordinance
requires the Planning Commission to provide the Board a
recommendation within a designated time period, unless
extended. The original initiation provided 90 days for
Planning Commission action. Additional time is necessary
for the Planning Commission to work on the proposed
amendment. |

Summary
Staff Report: |
|
The proposed
amendments to the Zoning Ordinance address activities
allowed at Farm Wineries. The issue was briefly introduced
to the Planning Commission at their regular December work
session. Since that time, staff has continued to work with
Supervisor Schwartz, the sponsor of the amendment, and some
of the wineries on refinements. Although the Planning
Commission originally planned a special work session on the
issue in January, this work session was deferred because of
the ongoing work being made on changes. A work session is
now planned for February 17, 2009; wineries and the general
public will be invited. The initial public hearing is then
planned to be held in March, giving the Commission time
after the work session to incorporate refinements based on
the session prior to the initial public hearing. It is
anticipated that at least one additional public hearing will
be necessary, in April, making a decision prior to May by
the Planning Commission unlikely. |
