Questions and Issues to be Resolved

            The Fauquier County School Board plans to meet on February 9th , 2004 in a Work Session to discuss the new high school; to visit Fauquier County Career Technical Education Programs on Monday, February 16, 2004; and to meet in a

Work Session on Monday, February 16th, 2004 to reach a decision about the type of

Athletic Facilities that will be at the new high school as well as to make a decision

about Career Technical Education for our secondary school students.  The Fauquier

County School Board plans to present the complete Secondary Programming recommendations at our Joint Work Session with the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, February 17th, 2004.

 

            As the Fauquier County School Board moves toward final recommendations about Secondary Programming, the following Questions and Issues will be addressed:

 

  1. Will Fauquier County Public Schools offer a centralized Career Technical Education Program?
  2. Will Career Technical Education be available at each high school?
  3. Will comprehensive (level 3 though 7) academic classes be offered at a centralized Career Technical Education facility?
  4. Will Fauquier County Public Schools partner with Lord Fairfax Community

College in programming if not in a joint centralized Career Technical Education facility?

  1. What are the property requirements from the Virginia Department of

Education for the construction of a new high school?

  1. How many public high schools have been built in Virginia without

Competition Athletic Facilities?

  1. Will Fauquier County Public Schools include a Competition Athletic Facility        

at the new high school?

 

TIMELINE:  RFPs (Requests for Proposals) are out for the design work for the new high school.  An architect will be chosen by the end of March, 2004.  At that time, the Fauquier County School Board will need to have reached a decision about Competition Athletic Facilities at the new high school as well as Career Technical Education as it will be available to all Fauquier County secondary students.
