A
Resolution Requesting that the Board of Supervisors Consider
Withdrawing Authorization to Institute the Road Abandonment
Process for a Portion of Cedar Run Drive
|
|
Topic
Description:
|
|
The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution directing the
County Administrator to take all action necessary to obtain
a permanent cul-de-sac easement and to institute the road
abandonment process for a portion of Cedar Run Drive, which
is not currently in the State Secondary System of Highways.
The Transportation Committee has recommended that the Board
consider directing the County Administrator to no longer
pursue the abandonment of this section of right-of-way, and
not seek to establish a permanent cul-de-sac in this
location.
Attachment 1 is a GIS map illustrating the existing
right-of-way along Cedar Run Drive, and Attachment 2 is a
wider view of Cedar Run Drive, as it relates to other roads
in the area. While the right-of-way is in place to connect
Cedar Run Drive to Frytown Road as shown on the graphic, the
road terminates before it connects. As illustrated, when
Frytown Road is improved over time the roads in this area
will serve as connections from Route 29 and Route 605 to
Meetze Road. Today, Millwood Drive connects Cedar Run Drive
to Atlee Road.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recommended
to the Transportation Committee that the right-of-way remain
available to provide options for future development of road
connections.
