A
Resolution to Award Bids for the Purchase and Installation
of Equipment for a Public Safety Paging System |
|
Topic Description: |
|
In conjunction with the
replacement of the Public Safety Radio System, the Board of
Supervisors authorized the replacement of the existing
paging system. The radio consultant was utilized to design
the new system and frequencies were identified in the UHF
band for the pagers. The new system will provide simulcast
capabilities and will utilize portions of the 800 MHz radio
system infrastructure to improve coverage.
The system concept was
presented to and approved by the Fire and Rescue
Association. Originally, Motorola was asked to provide a
quote on the system as a possible change order under the
existing radio contract. It was determined to bid the
system in order to obtain improved pricing. Specifications
were prepared and bids released in 2003. |
