A Resolution Authorizing the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to Execute an Agreement Extending the Term of the Sports Fields Lease, Development and Operation Agreement for the Central Site

Topic Description:

The Board of Supervisors and Sports Coordination Council, Inc. have executed a Sports Fields Lease, Development and Operation Agreement, dated February 5, 2002, for the development and operation of the sports fields on the 70.0065 acres located on the southwest side of Old Auburn Road, Virginia State Route 670, Center Magisterial District.  Paragraph (3) of the aforesaid agreement provides that the agreement will be void if a Master Facility Plan has not been approved by the Board of Supervisors and the Sports Coordination Council within 24 months of the date of the agreement.  The Director of Parks and Recreation advises that the Master Facilities Plan for the Central site should be ready for approval within the next six to nine months.  The proposed resolution extends the approval time for the Master Facility Plan from 24 to 36 months.     

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Note:  Due to its size, the Sports Fields Lease, Development and Operation Agreement is not available in electronic format.  It can be reviewed upon request in the Department of Community Development.  Copies of the Lease Agreement have been provided to the Board of Supervisors.
