Topic:  A Resolution to Request that the Virginia Department of Transportation Install Traffic Calming Measures for the Emerald Oaks Subdivision

Traffic calming measures recommended include: three-way stop signs at the intersection of Auburn Mill Road and Wemberly Drive; “Watch for Children” signage on Auburn Mill Road; and signage indicating the maximum penalty for exceeding posted maximum speed limit will be installed by VDOT.  These signs should be placed at locations VDOT deems appropriate.

On January 29, 2003, the Transportation Committee voted to recommend approval of the traffic calming measures requested by the Emerald Oaks residents with the condition that VDOT study the additional request to remove the double yellow pavement markings and consider other options for traffic calming along Auburn Mill Road.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

There was no financial impact analysis required for this request.  VDOT will fund the installation of the signs.
