Topic Description: 

The applicant proposes to rezone a 1.78-acre parcel located within the Marshall Service District from R-4 (Residential) to C-2 ( Commercial Highway ). The property is located north of I-66 within the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Route 17 and Route 622. Three major uses are proposed for the site following rezoning: a convenience store/gas station, fast food restaurant, and car wash.

Report Update:

At its last meeting, on January 21, 2003 , the Board of Supervisors reconsidered the Planning Commission’s recommendation on this rezoning application.  On November 21, 2002, the Planning Commission had voted unanimously to recommend denial of RZ03-M-01 based on a number of key issues relating to public safety and the appropriate use for this site.  It now appears that the applicant needs additional time to resolve these issues or identify an alternate use for the property.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

The Board may want to consider an additional deferral of action for 60 or 90 days.
