Topic:

A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE AWARD OF A VIRGINIA OUTDOORS FUND/LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND GRANT FOR PARK DEVELOPMENT AT VINT HILL SWIMMING POOL

Description:

In February 2002, the Parks and Recreation Board and County applied for Land and Water Conservation Fund funding to assist with the construction of the pool at Vint Hill.   The grant requested funding in the amount of $125,000 to assist with the planned pool and requires a minimum 50% match.  The department satisfied this requirement with funding already appropriated for the pool project, which exceeds the match required.

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and National Park Service approved the grant request of $125,000 in January of 2003. 

The grant requires a match and a requirement that the land for the pool be designated a park in perpetuity.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

A match is required which has been met by previously appropriated funding for the pool so no additional local funding is needed.
