A Resolution Authorizing the County Administrator to Execute a Lease on Behalf of Fauquier County with Austin Realty Management and Investments, Inc.


Topic Description:

The proposed resolution authorizes the County Administrator to execute a lease on behalf of Fauquier County with Austin Realty Management and Investments, Inc. for the purpose of renting office space for a portion of the Social Services Department and for the location of The Work Place for a five year period.   The Work Place and some of the staff to be relocated are currently located in leased space on Keith Street that is inadequate. The new location will also allow the transfer of 10 employees of the Social Services department now located in the Alice Jane Childs building.  This will provide for the space needs of the Department for the next five years and also allow a good grouping of related program staff.  This is the same space that was recently occupied by the Commonwealth Attorney’s office during renovations to the Courthouse.


Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Additional annual funding for the lease in the amount of $ 35,060 will be provided equally from the Social Services budget and from additional grant funding.  The Social Services budget will also provide the one time funding requirements associated with the move that includes minor renovations, some furnishings and phone and date connections.
