PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE COUNTY’S FIRST RESPONDERS AND OTHER STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES FOR THEIR EXCELLENT RESPONSE TO THE RECENT HISTORIC BLIZZARD

            WHEREAS, Fauquier County was subject to an unprecedented winter storm that dumped more than thirty inches of snow in the area from February 7, 2010 through February 10, 2010; and

            WHEREAS, in response to and in order to mitigate the effects of this storm, Fauquier County’s first responders and several other ancillary agencies at both the State and Federal level were deployed; and

            WHEREAS, these included the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management, the County’s Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Social Services, the American Red Cross, the Army National Guard, the Warrenton Town Police, the Virginia State Police, the Department of General Services, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Office of Adult Court Services and the Virginia Department of Transportation; and

            WHEREAS, these departments and agencies worked collaboratively to effect a well-ordered, cohesive response to the storm while prioritizing public safety and the welfare of the community; and

            WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize and honor those men and women whose dedication and cooperation served the County well; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 11th day of March 2010, That the aforementioned departments and agencies be, and are hereby, recognized and honored.
