A temporary turnaround
easement and land for the extension of Cedar Run Drive to
Virginia Route 678 were dedicated to public use upon the
recording of the Phase Two, Millwood Subdivision Plat. The
Board of Supervisors approved that plat on May 20, 1980.
Subsequently, the Board received a request to abandon the
unimproved portion of Cedar Run Drive at the terminus of
that road. In response, the Board, by Resolution dated July
19, 2004, abandoned the unimproved portion of that road,
directed the County Administrator to take the steps
necessary to transfer any title or interest the Board may
have acquired in the portion of the street which was
abandoned, and to take the steps necessary to obtain a
permanent cul-de-sac easement. Since the passage of that
Resolution, those necessary steps have been completed. Now,
in order for the road to be accepted by the Virginia
Department of Transportation (VDOT) into the Secondary
System of State Highways, a subdivision street acceptance
request from the Board of Supervisors to VDOT is required. |
