ORDINANCE

 An ordinance to Classify Real Property AND PERSONAL PROPERTY Owned by THE CLAUDE MCDONALD FOUNDATION, INC.  EXEMPT FROM Taxation

WHEREAS, the Claude McDonald Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization owning real property in Fauquier County which permits organizations such as scout troops to utilize its property; and 

WHEREAS, the Claude McDonald Foundation, Inc. has requested an exemption from real and personal property taxation in order to permit it to be better able to use its financial resources for charitable purposes, which request was pending as of January 1, 2008; and  

WHEREAS,  prior to granting a charitable organization an exemption from property tax pursuant to Section 8-71 of the County Code and Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia the Board of Supervisors must conduct a public hearing and adopt an ordinance granting the exemption; and 

WHEREAS, after due notice and public hearing, the Board has considered the questions set forth in Virginia Code Section 58.1-3651(B) and has determined that the application for the proposed exemption from taxation should be granted; now, therefore, be it 

ORDAINED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 12th day of March 2009, That the property of the Claude McDonald Foundation, Inc., further described as PINs #6010-42-7740, #6010-32-5208 and #6010-42-7266, be and is hereby, designated as exempt from real and personal property taxation; and, be it 

ORDAINED FURTHER, That the continuance of this exemption shall be conditioned upon the continuous use of this property in accordance with the purpose for which this organization has been designated; and, be it 

ORDAINED FINALLY, that this exemption shall be effective January 1, 2008.
