PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO RECOGNIZE JANET N. SHANNON

UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM THE FAUQUIER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES

WHEREAS,  Janet N. Shannon, who has served the citizens of Fauquier County  with distinction for more than 35 years, will retire on March 31, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Janet N. Shannon began her career in administrative support with the Fauquier County Department of Social Services and became one of the Commonwealth’s first Eligibility Technicians; and

WHEREAS,  Janet N. Shannon has served the Fauquier County Department of Social Services with diligence and dedication in a variety of positions, including Senior Eligibility Worker/Team Leader; and

WHEREAS, Janet N. Shannon has played a leadership role in the Department’s record of error-free benefit determinations; and

WHEREAS, Janet N.  Shannon’s efforts have had a positive impact on the lives of Fauquier County citizens and she has rendered honorable and faithful service throughout her career; and

WHEREAS,  throughout her career Janet N. Shannon has exhibited concern above and beyond the duties of her position, establishing programs such as the Back to School Program, which assists large numbers of income-limited children, food distributions and community service fairs; and

WHEREAS, Janet N. Shannon has established an outstanding record of dedication to public service; now, therefore, be it

PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 15^th day of March 2004, That the Board of Supervisors hereby commends Janet N. Shannon for the completion of an exemplary career of service to the citizens of Fauquier County; and, be it

PROCLAIMED FURTHER, That the Board of Supervisors wishes to express to Janet N. Shannon its gratitude and good wishes for a long and fulfilling retirement.
