Topic: Emery & Garrett
Groundwater, Inc., Groundwater Resources Briefing
|
|
Work Session:
James M. Emery, President of Emery &
Garrett Groundwater, Inc., will brief the Board of Supervisors
regarding the groundwater resources in Fauquier County, the
existing information base, emerging demands, and, from his
perspective, what steps must be taken to construct a solid
information base, including the requisite hydrogeologic
investigations, needed to establish groundwater resource
capabilities.
Background:
The Board of
Supervisors has requested information to gain a better
understanding of
Fauquier
County
’s groundwater resources, recharge capacity and sustainable
yields countywide due to reasons amplified over the past several
years resulting from low rainfall and reported resident and
business problems with existing wells. As part of this initial
effort, James M. Emery, President of Emery & Garrett
Groundwater, Inc. (EGGI), has been invited to brief the Board of
Supervisors. EGGI
is a highly regarded national firm specializing in water resources
analysis and study. It
has completed many hydrogeologic and associated studies for the
Fauquier County Water and Sanitation Authority and the Board of
Supervisors. Examples
of their work for the Board of Supervisors include: groundwater
assessments for the New Baltimore Service District area
(establishing the adequacy of groundwater resources to support
future public water supply demands), Opal Phase II (identification
of six potential groundwater development zones), the Marshall Park
(hydrogeolgic study; well pump testing); pump tests and analysis
of the groundwater impact of the Dominion Power Peaking Facility
