PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO RECOGNIZE THE MONTH OF MARCH 2003

AS MEDIATION MONTH IN FAUQUIER COUNTY

WHEREAS, mediation is a process of dispute resolution that offers both short-term and long-term benefits which ultimately promote harmony and understanding among a diverse and multi-faceted population; and

WHEREAS, mediation provides a cost-effective, confidential alternative to litigation to resolve disputes between individuals, groups and institutions throughout Fauquier County ; and

WHEREAS, Fauquier County has sought to assist its citizens in the process of dispute resolution by implementing programs to allow mediation participants to best decide the resolution to their dispute; and

WHEREAS, mediation is globally accepted as a way to creatively approach conflict through personal expression, education and empowerment to decide among various outcomes; now, therefore, be it

PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 17^th day of March 2003, That the month of March 2003 be, and is hereby, recognized as Mediation Month in Fauquier County and calls this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
