RESOLUTION A
RESOLUTION TO DIRECT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT STAFF TO CHANGE ITS
INTERPRETATION OF CHAPTER 7 OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (VILLAGES AND
SETTLEMENTS) WITH REGARDS TO REZONING APPLICATIONS
WHEREAS,
the Village and Settlement chapter of the Comprehensive Plan was
originally adopted with the 1977 Plan Revision; and
WHEREAS,
the Village and Settlement chapter has remained largely unchanged since
its original adoption; and WHEREAS,
certain ambiguities in the Village and Settlement chapter have required
staff interpretation over the years with regard to rezoning requests
within the Villages and Settlements; and
WHEREAS, an update to the Village and Settlement chapter is
identified as a key project for the Planning Commission to undertake in
2002, in part to provide more precise boundaries for each of the
approximately forty villages and settlements within the County; and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the Board of Supervisors that a more
conservative interpretation of village and settlement boundaries should
be utilized by the County until such time as the Village and Settlement
chapter has been amended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 18th day of March 2002, That the Community Development staff is hereby directed to utilize only the village and settlement outlines for boundary interpretations and that the one-half mile radius circles no longer be used to determine village and settlement boundaries until such time as the Planning Commission has completed, and the Board of Supervisors has adopted, an update of the Village and Settlement chapter of the Comprehensive Plan. |
