ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING A SERVICE DISTRICT FOR THE PROVISION OF ELECTRIC
POWER AND LIGHTS IN THE UNINCORPORATED TOWN OF MARSHALL

Attached
is a proposed ordinance establishing a special service district
for the provision of power and light in the unincorporated Town
of Marshall. Establishment
of the service district will permit the imposition of a tax on
residents of the district to pay for the services provided to
the district. Streetlights
and electric power services will be acquired under an existing
County contract with Dominion Virginia Power.
The tax is intended to replace fundraising revenue from
the Marshall Community League, which previously paid for these
services.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Hold a public hearing and consider adopting the
attached ordinance.

Financial Impacts Analysis:
|
|
A one
cent (1¢) levy on
the assessed value of all real property located in the proposed
district will raise approximately $90,000 annually.
The annual cost of present level of services is estimated
at approximately $13,000 to $20,000.
