Topic A Resolution to Establish the Northern Sports Fields Complex and Park Coordination and Oversight Ad Hoc Committee to Coordinate and Oversee the Construction of the Northern Sports Fields Complex and Park

On February 19, 2002, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors authorized the acceptance of a Ten Million Dollar ($10,000,000) conditional distribution from the Paul Mellon Estate for the construction of the Northern Sports Field Complex and Park.  A condition of the agreement requires Fauquier County to complete the Northern Sports Field Complex and Park within two years of the date of receipt of funds and to complete an aquatics facility the following year.  The Board of Supervisors wishes to establish a formal structure for the coordination with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Sports League Council, and the Paul Mellon Estate, along with the interested public through the establishment of a Northern Sports Field Complex and Park Coordination and Oversight Committee, which would receive monthly updates on the status of the project from the Parks and Recreation Departmentís Project Manager.  The Northern Sports Fields Complex and Park Coordination and Oversight Committee will have the authority to approve disbursements from the Ten Million Dollar ($10,000,000) distribution and the authority to approve contracts relating to the park in excess of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).
